Blot liquids, don’t rub them in! Use a clean white cotton cloth or plain white paper towels. Once you have removed the liquid, rinse the spot with cool water and blot again until dry. Repeat if necessary to remove more of the stain, but don’t scrub the area, or you may damage the carpet and set the stain in more permanently.
For semi-solids, such as peanut butter, pudding and such, scrape and lift gently with a spoon. Rinse the remaining spill out and blot dry.
Dried solids should be broken up and vacuumed. Repeat until it is all gone, then rinse with water and blot dry.
It is always safer and better to call a professional for large stains! Trying to correct large soiled areas can lead to permanent damage.
5 Costly Misconceptions about Carpet Cleaning
MISCONCEPTION #1: You should wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet.
Dirt is an abrasive – like sandpaper. Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibers. This cuts your carpet, just as if you had used a knife. This cutting causes your carpet to wear out faster. A dirty carpet will not last as long as a clean carpet. And while vacuuming helps, by itself, it’s simply not enough. The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the faster it wears out.
MISCONCEPTION #2: Isn’t Vacuuming enough?
As you know, dirt, dust, oil, pollen, bacteria, and other pollutants are tracked onto our floors everyday. Vacuuming is an important part of maintaining the floors, but after a while the floor just doesn’t look good. That’s when our thorough cleaning will bring your floors back to their original beauty.
If you have allergies, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems, you will also be amazed at how much your health improves after we clean!
MISCONCEPTION #3: One method of carpet cleaning is just as good an another.
Here’s where our company stands out again. We recognize that each cleaning situation can be different. Whether your carpet is made of natural fiber (wool, cotton, sisal) or synthetic fibers (nylon, olefin, polyester, recycled plastic, etc.), we have the right equipment and solutions for each challenge. Depending on the fiber content and soiling conditions we encounter we can use anything from truck-mounted hot water extraction equipment to dry cleaning systems. Another advantage of having multiple cleaning systems is we will use the appropriate cleaning system to achieve the best, most thorough cleaning possible.
MISCONCEPTION #4: Having commercial equipment is all that is necessary to clean properly.
Many companies own expensive cleaning equipment, but very few teach their employees how to use it properly. That is why it is important to choose your cleaner carefully. Because we care about our reputation, you can be assured that we will have well maintained equipment, the right solutions and expert knowledge of how to appropriately use our equipment to clean your flooring.
MISCONCEPTION #5: Low price advertisements are a deal – right?
1. The price you see advertised may not be the price you pay. Many people have learned that the low price they saw advertised lasted only until the carpet cleaner got into their home. Then they were pressured into paying a lot more for a variety of add-ons.
2 Low price cleaners rely on high volume to achieve profitability. To achieve their profit levels they rush the cleaning and attempt to add on services that should be included with any proper cleaning. Their only skills are gimmicks, hidden charges, high pressure tactics and high speed, low quality cleaning.
Over the years we’ve been in business we’ve had the honor to fix the poor cleaning results of many low-price cleaning companies. It is enlightening to compare the invoice price with the advertised price the “low-price” companies charge. Most of the time their price is higher than ours.
